INTERVIEW WITH SOCANDY!!!

1. Can you tell us a bit about your background as an artist and how you got started in the industry?

I’ve always had a passion for music. I grew up watching music videos and award shows. I’ve always wanted to entertain. I wrote my first song when I was 7 years old and got in the studio for the first time my freshman year of college. I started to take my artistry seriously after cheering for the Houston Texans football team.

2. What genres or styles of music do you primarily focus on? How would you describe your unique sound or style?

Trap Beckham and I have created a new genre called “Hip Pop”. It’s not necessarily Hip Hop nor Pop but like a mixture of both. I think it fits my voice perfectly!

3. Who are some of your biggest musical influences, and how do they inspire your own work?

I looooooveeee Rihanna. That’s my favorite artist. I love her style and her music. She inspires me everyday.. Doja Cat is another one of my favorite artists because she is great at both rapping and singing.

4. What was your creative process with your new single, “Taste like candy” ? Do you write your own music?

It all started with Don Julio 😂. Trap and I co-wrote the record. We got in the studio and he was like “Hey, you should remake “Candy” by Cameo”. It was already an anticipated record for me so I was okay! Trap made the beat and it was history from there.

5. Do you feel Taste like candy is getting the support from DJs, And radio as you expected, If you did..

What?! Is it!!! I’ve never had so much support on a record in my life. This is an incredible feeling.

6. What sets you apart from other artists in the music scene? How do you stand out and make an impact with your music?

I think for me it’s my voice. I don’t sound like anyone. I think also the type of music that is being made is different. I’m actually putting out songs and speaking on real life experiences.

7. What would you do if your audience looked tired or bored during your performance?

Go harder! ☺️

8. Are there any specific challenges or obstacles that you've faced as an artist? How have you overcome them or grown from those experiences?

Yes. Getting people to believe. I started off as a fitness influencer and then switched to a musician. My audience did not really like that. It made me a better artist because I had to realize everyone isn’t going to like everything I put out. So I had to make people want to interact with me musically.

9. What are your goals and aspirations as an artist? Where do you see yourself in the next few years?

I just want recognition for my talents. I also want to enjoy the beginning stages as much as possible.

10. Are there any upcoming projects or releases that you're currently working on? Can you give us any hints or details?

Yes! I’m dropping a music video to “Taste Like Candy”. Very, very sexy visual

11. How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business and help your career?

I think it’s changed the business a lot. You know now a days you have millions of people at your fingertips. It’s really up to you if you use it to your advantage or not.

12. Lastly, is there anything else you would like to share with our audience or potential listeners about your music or your journey as an artist as you started out as a professional cheerleader?

Just stay consistent and be the best at whatever you do. Whether that’s a professional cheerleader, doctor, artist.. just be the best!
